Walden Grove High School

Walden Grove High School has had a long-running FCA Bible club on its campus, with 70–80 students joining its weekly Wednesday lunch meetings. In March, our team brought Bibles for the club to host a Bible table during lunch and give God’s Word to any peers who needed a Bible.
One student who came up to the table while we were there was named Jaymz. He told us that he needed a Bible because his grandparents, whom he lives with, are very opposed to God, Jesus, and religion in general. Every time he gets a Bible and brings it home, they take it from him and throw it away. He shared that he goes to church when he can, but he always has to lie to his grandparents about where he is going, or they will not let him go.
When asked what motivated him to keep getting Bibles and seeking Jesus, even though his grandparents tried to stop him, Jaymz responded, “I just really need the redemption that Jesus brings, and that’s why I keep seeking Jesus and getting Bibles.” He said that he believed in Jesus but needed to work on receiving the redemption that comes from Him.
Students at the table were able to share the gospel with Jaymz and explain that Jesus had already paid the full cost for redemption. Jaymz did not have to work for it or earn it. Instead, he could receive it by putting his faith in Jesus. The students also invited him to join their FCA club so he could learn more about God and grow in his relationship with Jesus while at school.
Two months later, we helped the FCA club host a three-day gym outreach. On the first day of the outreach, Jaymz accepted Jesus into his heart in response to the gospel message that was presented. On the third day, Jaymz came up to a stack of free Bibles we were handing out and asked if he could take the whole stack to give to more students at the school who had not attended the event.
Seeing God capture Jaymz’s heart and begin mobilizing him to share His Word with others was truly a sight to behold!
