Set Free Stories

An Online Gospel Ad Campaign

He Saves Us and Sets Us Free

Join us in telling the world that Jesus saves us, transforms us, and sets us free.
He doesn’t just see us, know us, or get us, but He makes us new.

We plan to produce seven powerful testimonial videos and distribute them on social media worldwide. These testimonies will be from people who have been saved by Jesus and set free from backgrounds of abuse, abortion, addictions, alternate lifestyles, and false religions.

The videos will include a clear gospel message, with a call to repent of sin and receive Jesus as savior and Lord. The videos will be hosted on a website where people can watch the stories, read the gospel message, have questions answered, respond in saving faith, and learn more about how Jesus really can set them free through the power of the gospel.

This is an evangelistic campaign all believers can join. Decision Point will energize and call students around the country and even around the world to bring the SET FREE outreach to their school and community. We pray believers worldwide will be energized to share their stories of how Jesus set them free and with their friends and with the world online.

Inspired by the Super Bowl…and Response

In the midst of commercials about Mayo and Ubereats was the latest ad from the He Gets Us campaign. While poignant, neither the ad itself and the accompanying website contain a clear message about sin, Christ’s death and resurrection, or the salvation He offers to all who repent and believe.

Then two days later, someone dared to publish, “The Super Bowl ad they SHOULD have made. Made by Jamie Bambrick, a pastor in Northern Ireland, this alternate ad featured pictures of believers with captions such as, “Former Jihadi…Former LGBT activist…Former porn star.” Shared 10,000 times and amassing 2 million views in 24 hours on Twitter alone, it drove a global conversation about the redeeming power of the gospel.

Inspired by Jamie’s video, we’ve secured commitments from several people featured in his video to share their story for this initiative.

Why Now?

Now more than ever, young people are searching for answers online. Reports show that screen time among teens has increased by nearly 60% during the pandemic with teens spending an average of 7 hours a day on screens for entertainment. However, the number of people seeking information online about how to know Jesus has also increased creating a ripe opportunity for the gospel. Imagine the impact of bringing the gospel directly to students on their phones, on their social media. Rather than imagining, help us bring it to life. Together, we could help people turn from the idols of the day and see people SET FREE. Join us.

Gospel Impact So Far

Our last online outreach initiative was able to reach 40 million people worldwide. Young people were presented with compelling gospel ads directly in their social media feed where they were clicked nearly 10 million times, bringing over 1.5 million people to our website for a full, clear, and convicting gospel presentation from one of several speakers sharing their stories of life change. In the past years, this mission field has surprised us by being incredibly fruitful. Millions of students have engaged with the gospel content, putting their faith in Jesus, engaging with our team in a 24/7 live chat, checking out apologetics pages, and connecting with local churches. See below for a sample of the ads students have seen and comments we’ve received showing God’s power through these.

Timeline and Opportunity

We see that this is a unique moment where students’ ever-present need for the gospel is coming to match an outpouring of interest in reaching this generation through powerful media. So we’re stepping up our production schedule in order to meet this moment.

We plan to produce 7 SET FREE Stories, and release at least 5 of them by November 1st, 2024 to coincide with student-led SET FREE outreaches at several hundred middle and high schools. We’ll then aggressively distribute those stories over social media in the fall of 2024 and into the coming years. We’ll release the remaining 2 SET FREE Stories by September 2025. If we’re able, we’ll accelerate the timeline. As God provides and as His people contribute, we envision this project growing to include dozens of SET FREE stories in the coming years reaching millions of people with true stories of supernatural transformation to an abundant life in Christ they never knew existed.

To make this happen, we've already raised $200,000 to cover all the production costs of these stories and are looking to raise an additional $750,000 to help publish these stories to the widest audience.

Funding Breakdown

PHASE 1 - $200K by April 15th, 2024

$100,000 - Production costs for all 7 videos. This includes filming, travel, and honorariums for speakers. We’ll keep costs low by using our existing film team for much of the production, and we’ll accelerate the schedule by partnering with a production company for some of the work.

$100,000 - Production of websites, social media, follow-up resources, graphic design, and communication. These key resources will lay the foundation we need to ensure these films have the widest reach and that everyone who sees the stories has clear opportunities to know how to walk with Jesus and find a local church for new life in Him. Once we have this foundation in place, all remaining funds will go toward distributing the stories to everyone who should see them.

PHASE 2 - $750K

$750,000 - Ad spend to distribute SET FREE stories to social media. We’ll direct these powerful stories through social feeds, including Facebook and Instagram and potentially Youtube and Tik Tok. Additionally, we’ll partner with influencers to share these stories and get them the widest engagement. We do not plan to engage in expensive television, billboard, or print advertising, instead targeting the placement of these stories to reach people where they are worldwide - on their phones in a moment of need and openness to Jesus’ love.

Our Convictions

We believe we don’t have to choose between gospel clarity and engaging people’s hearts. The gospel is the power of God for salvation (Romans 3:23). Jesus is the great attraction who is drawing people from all over the world to Himself (John 12:32). We must tell people that which is of first importance, that Jesus died for our sins, was buried and rose again (I Corinthians 15:3-4).

We don’t have to choose between loving people and calling people to repentance. The most loving thing we can do is share the gospel with clarity, urgency, and boldness. We must not communicate the truth of the gospel in any way that distorts or hides the truth. Rather, we are called to openly share the truth by appealing to people’s consciences in the sight of God to whom we will give an account (II Corinthians 4:2; Colossians 4:3-4; Ephesians 6:19-20).

We can share with confidence because the gospel is the power of God for salvation, because the Holy Spirit is working in people’s hearts to convict them of sin and draw them to faith in Jesus. We can share boldly because we have been commissioned by Christ to do so.

The devil is doing all he can to destroy people through the deceitful power of sin. We must warn people of Jesus’ words, “He who commits sin is the slave of sin.” Then hold high the great hope Jesus gave when He said, “You will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” “Whom the son sets free is free indeed.”
