If I asked you how many people at your school know the gospel, what would you say? For a lot of us, it’s easy to think that everyone we see is either a Christian, or someone who has already decided to reject Jesus. But that’s just not true! Did you know that more than 50% of students today have never even heard John 3:16, let alone know the whole Gospel?

What’s the Go Witness Challenge?

Initiate conversations until you get to share the gospel with five people. Be friendly, ask them their thoughts about God, be a good listener, ask if you can share the gospel with them, and invite them to respond. If you've already done the Pray5 Challenge, you might already have 5 people in mind to share the gospel with. This could be your chance!

Romans 10:13-14

“For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’ How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?”

Prayer

The first step in witnessing is to prepare for the conversation by praying. Don’t go into any conversation without first spending a moment in prayer. Ask God to give you boldness, courage and truth to share and ask Him to work in the life of the person you are about to talk to!

What is the Gospel?

The gospel is the “good news” about Jesus. It’s the most important message in the world! Explaining this good news in a clear and simple way can feel intimidating. Luckily, just like the gospel itself is both simple and deep, sharing the gospel is the same way. Whether sharing the good news with a friend or stranger, one way it can be summarized is by four simple points. Check out the “What is the Gospel?” Cards and print them out for other Christians so they can practice sharing the gospel too!

How to Follow Up

Make sure to follow up with each person! Don’t just leave it at one conversation. Strike up another conversation with them. Ask them if they’ve had time to think about your last conversation and if they have any questions about Jesus. Invite them to your club and youth group and keep praying for them!

Witnessing is always a risk, but the gospel is powerful. You can be encouraged when you consider that Jesus risked it all for you and sent His Spirit so you can share God’s love with the people around you who desperately need Him. “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.” That's what the Go Witness Challenge is all about.
